Cards from Canal Street

Friday, February 10, 2012  at 6:52 AM
Once again we had a great day of stamping yesterday at Canal Street.  It's an exhausting day for Carrie and I but so worth it.  What a fun day!

Here are Carrie's cards.  The first one was inspired by a Mojo Monday sketch.

Carrie's second card was inspired by two fellow Stampin' Up! demos.  She CASE'd the card from Kay Kalthoff but changed the colors and got the idea for the hanging pinata from Patty Bennett.

And here are my two cards.  The first features the Triple Treat Flower stamp.  I mentioned earlier that this was a popular SAB choice so I thought it would be fun to use in class.  My friend Aris had sent me a picture of a card she'd made that used blue and yellow and it reminded me how much I love that color combo.  I thought those colors were perfect for this stamp.  I used Marina Mist and Daffodil Delight.  I also used the Stripes embossing folder, another free choice during SAB.

My second card features four different products available as a free choice for SAB...the sentiment from Elementary Elegance, the Everyday Enchantment DSP, the Designer Frames embossing folders, and the Kindness Matters stamp set (inside card).

Door Prizes for This Week

Wednesday, February 8, 2012  at 7:51 AM
I have to say that my second favorite thing about the Canal Street classes is making the door prizes.  (My favorite thing is the awesome stampers that show up!)  I love to make little papercrafted projects.  This week I am giving away a boxed set of note cards.  Each box contains (4) 3 x 3 note cards with envelopes.  These aren't mailable size but just perfect for slipping in a gift bag.  I've got two of these - one for the morning class and one for the afternoon class.  Hope to see you there.

Here are the measurements if you'd like to make a set of your own.
  1. Each note card is cut 3" x 6" and scored at 3".  Using 12" x 12" card stock makes for no waste.
  2. The little envelopes are available from Stampin' Up!  They are Mini Square Envelopes measuring 3-1/8" x 3-1/8" (item #107309, p. 182 in the catalog).
  3. For the box, cut card stock 3-5/8" x 8-1/2".  Score at 3-1/4", 4", 7-1/4" and 8".
  4. Score again along the bottom edge at 5/8".  You will need to cut up from the bottom 1/2" on each flap.
  5. Assemble box with strong adhesive such as Sticky Strip.
I've added some pictures to help you see the cuts and folds.

Taking a Break

Monday, February 6, 2012  at 9:26 PM

I am completely buried in tax returns this week so I probably won't get much blogging done.  I do have my cards ready for the Canal Street class on Thursday and I'll post pictures of those cards and the door prize but that's about it.  Do you have your taxes done for the year?  If so, go celebrate!  I'm already planning a fun getaway for the end of April to mark the end of another tax season (only 70 more days).

Here's a quick sneak peek of my cards for Thursday.

Designer Cuts Cards & Envelopes Set

Saturday, February 4, 2012  at 6:00 AM
I mentioned yesterday that many of my customers ordered the Designer Cuts Cards & Envelopes Set.  That's probably because we used one of the designs for a card at my stamping clubs last week.  This set is easy to miss in the catalog.  It's in the Occasions Mini Catalog on page 9.

The set includes 8 cards that feature a delicate laser-cut design (4 ea. of 2 designs) and 8 Blushing Bride envelopes.  We used the heart design in club to create a card that I found on Stampin' Connection (the SU demo forum) created by Kay Kalthoff.  You can see the original card on her blog Stamping to Share by clicking HERE

Next month at club we'll use the other half of the package to make this card.

The laser cuts are really beautiful.  You get all 8 cards with 8 envelopes for $9.95.  They're available through April 30 in the mini catalog.

Lots of Stamping Supplies

Friday, February 3, 2012  at 7:03 AM

I love seeing this truck roll down my street because usually that means a Stampin' Up! delivery.  Yesterday it took him two trips to my front door to bring all the boxes!

What fun to open and sort all this great product.  I love seeing the variety of products that my customers order.  And lots of stuff in these boxes was FREE!   Don't you just love Sale-A-Bration time?  Can you spot anything from your order?

My sweet hubby Gary helped me sort and bag everything since I'm so busy right now with tax season.  I love having an assistant.  I wonder how I can convince him to help me later this year!  (He doesn't really look like he's enjoying this as much as I am!)

But it's all bagged and ready for pickup or delivery.  I sent emails to all my customers last night.  Some are stopping by to pick them up, others will get theirs next week at the Canal Street class, and some will get to have my assistant (love calling him that) deliver to their homes.

So, want to know the favorites that everyone ordered?  Three products were ordered by many of my customers.

Mixed Bunch Stamp Set

Blossom Punch

Designer Cuts Cards & Envelopes Set

And the favorite freebie for Sale-A- Bration?

Triple Treat Flower Stamp

Wow!  There should be some fabulous projects created with all this great product.  I'd love to see what you create once you start playing with all your goodies.  Please share!  And thanks for your business.

Patchwork Card...Two Ways

Thursday, February 2, 2012  at 6:16 AM
I finally have some samples to show you from the card base from Monday.  Here's the card without embellisments from Monday.

I got some comments and some emails with suggestions.  I've come up with two different cards based on some of the ideas.  Thanks to Dotto Removeable Adhesive I was able to create more than one card using just the one card base.  I didn't put a sentiment on either card for two reasons.  First I just didn't have time.  I'm working on tax returns anywhere from 10 to 14 hours per day.  Second, I decided to leave more of the patchwork showing on the front of the card.

I think you get two very distinct feels from these cards.  One is more flirty and vintage, the other is more clean and simple.  Hope you enjoy the results.

Thank you so much for all the ideas.  Aren't stampers such a fun, friendly, helpful group of people?  Maybe I'll try this again sometime.

Club Card Inspiration

Wednesday, February 1, 2012  at 8:20 AM
I love getting ideas for cards from other demonstrators.  What I hate is when I can't remember where I first saw the card.  I usually save the card in my favorites and can go back and see where I first saw it.  But I just can't find the card that inspired me for one of my club cards last week.  I thought I knew perhaps where I saw it but went back through a couple of blogs and didn't see it.  I did actually make the original inspiration card so here is the one that I made.  If you know who made the original please let me know so I can give credit to this fabulous stamp artist.

So for my club card I used the same layout, just changed the colors and stamp sets.

I'm still working on my challenge from Monday.  I took all the ideas and I'm trying various versions of this card.  I'll post them all when I'm finished.
