Lois suggested in her comment to my last post that I should think about stamping space as much as storage space. I totally agree. When we were at IKEA Gary saw this huge table and suggested that it might be great right down the middle of my room.
So one of the first things I will do tomorrow after the closing is measure out this room, draw it up on some graph paper and see if this would fit.
If this works, Lois, you have to come stamp with me. In fact, you are all invited!

I think this table looks great - but if it doesn't fit with your desk and storage around the perimeter you can always have Gary customize the work surface to the largest you can accommodate. BTW- just wait till you experience how nice your chair rolls on a hard floor surface !!!
This table is great b/c it is big, but think of all the lost storage space underneath. Have you seen those craft tables that have bookshelves underneath? I love ana-white.com and she has instructions on how to construct one. You can see the plans here: http://ana-white.com/2010/09/modern-craft-table. Although it's probably cheaper for you all to buy one than to have dad build one (consider THAT medical bill!!).
I saw one of those tables (stained, not white) at IKEA on sale once when I was there....it was absolutely amazing in appearance and I told my friend that it would be a darn fine stamping table if only I could get it home! (it was already assembled and of course, I evaluate everything thru a "stamping filter".) But I never thought about storage underneath.
I don't use rolling chairs, I have bar stools which I got at Ikea long ago...they have held up very well thru the past 3 or 4 years and I still love them. My current stamping table is a pool table with a ping pong table on top (covered with a Green Galore colored picnic tablecloth...yes, it's an attention grabber!) but I also have a counter height table which has a "butterfly leaf extension" which will be my future stamping table someday when I downsize so I will most likely retain the carpeting in my stamp room and continue to use the bar stools for seating. Right now the table is where I keep my Big Shot and stash order forms, pens, etc.
Can't wait to see how you have your room set up and even more so I am excited to know there is an Ikea in Orlando! The nearest one to me right now is in Chicago which is a good 5 hour drive.
See you in a few weeks! Jan
