The Folded Christmas Tree

Sunday, October 9, 2011  at 7:17 AM
At our World Card Making Day event I displayed and demonstrated a card that featured a folded Christmas Tree.  I first saw this Christmas tree on a gift bag that my friend Shirley designed.

Then Judy brought this card to club last month for show & tell.

I knew this would be a great demo for WCMD.  Here's the card that I demonstrated.

I promised that day to put the instructions on my blog.  I attempted to film a video showing how to make the folds but my little tripod for my camera was too small and the camera kept falling over in the middle of the video!  However, my friends Shirley and Judy came to the rescue and found a video to help you all with this project.  Since the card in the video is a little different I will give you some basic directions for my card and you can just use the video for the folding.

My tree has five layers so you will start with 5 squares in the following sizes.

3-1/2"
3"
2-1/2"
2"
1-2/"

Fold each square side to side and then point to point.

Then push in the sides to forn a triangle (this is where the video will help).

Finally fold the front pieces to meet the center (once again the video will help).

You will adhere these to your card front starting with the smallest on the top and then add the rest in descending order, pushing the point up under the piece above.

Click on THIS LINK to see the video that will give you a better visual on the folding.  Have fun with this and please contact me if you have questions.

I love the card....did one like that for stamp club several years back. They liked the end result but one of my gals hates folding and I didn't know it at the time...she has arithis in her hands so it's understandable. When I did the Blossom Box in August she looked at me and said, "Jan, next time I am going to call first to see what we're doing and if it's folding then I am not coming!" I think she was serious, too! lol! But she bought the Simply Scoring tool last month so maybe she's ok with folding if the stylus and board do all the work? ha, ha! Love the tree with the colorful DSP...so pretty!
